You Can Still Find Hotel Rooms for the Super Bowl For Under $300

January 20, 2010

The Whitelaw Hotel, Miami Beach

As you can imagine, most hotels in Miami and Fort Lauderdale are sold out for Super Bowl weekend—or have ridonkulous rates around $1,000 a night. But there are still rooms available for less. Hard to believe, we know, but look what happened yesterday: the Jets beat the Chargers! Anything can happen!

There are a few catches, of course, the first being that you’ll have to stay at least four nights to secure a room in most places. Generally, this means from Thursday, February 4 to Monday, February 8.

Here are two rates in Miami and one in Fort Lauderdale that were still available for those dates when we checked via Quikbook earlier today:

· Acqua Hotel: This boutique hotel in South Beach had rooms for $203 a night.
· Whitelaw Hotel Rooms are still available for $281 a night at this member of the South Beach Hotel Group.
· Hampton Inn & Suites, Fort Lauderdale Airport: Standard rooms and king suites are both $199 a night.

In other Super Bowl hotel news, we learned via the New York Times that the NFL booked Fort Lauderdale’s Harbor Beach Marriott Resort and Spa for the A.F.C. champion team, while the N.F.C. team will get to live it up at the Intercontinental in downtown Miami. That doesn’t seem fair now, does it?

Jets and Colts fans, however, take note: You can still book a room at the Harbor Beach Marriott, from $729 a night. Which is a small price to pay to sleep with greatness, no?  Via: MsRebecca – HotelChatter

W SoBe Introduces ‘Entourage’ Bungalow

July 21, 2009

Where: 2201 Collins Ave [map], Miami, FL, United States, 33139

We probably all know by now that the type of dude who struts around as though he believes his life is an episode of HBO’s “Entourage” is to be avoided as deliberately and as unmistakably as the type of girl who believes her life is an episode of Sex and the City, so perhaps the W South Beach is doing you a favor by restricting access to its grounds: it’s going to be full of Vinny/Eric/Drama/Turtle wannabes.

And how do we know this, exactly? Not because the place is scene-y and Miami trendy, but because word on the street is that the hotel is joining forces with HBO to create an “Entourage”-themed bungalow, a three-story, “extra-ritzy” space that comes with a personal driver, an afternoon yacht excursion, a poolside cabana and jet skis, and dinner for four at Solea. Though the place appears to be BYO-Weed (tell your Turtle-esque friend — and also, we’re totes just kidding, don’t do drugs), it does come with free alcohol from Grey Goose and Heineken, as well as Sony Playstation3 consoles.

Adrian Grenier will be at the property to unveil the bungalow on July 23, a kickoff that will also mark the beginning of a W-wide Entourage campaign: all W’s will have an “Entourage Package” (a suite, a bottle of champagne and a DVD set of “Entourage’s” most recent season) and an Entourage-on-demand channel that is accessible for free.

The bungalow at W SoBe will be available July 27 to September 27, but no word on price yet — we imagine you probably don’t want to know.   by Jenna – HotelChatter

The Setai Once Again Opens Up Its Recording Studio for ‘Idol’ Wannabes

July 11, 2009

Where: 2001 Collins Avenue [map], Miami Beach, FL, United States, 33139

So you wanna be a rock star? Just think, a few hours in The Recording Studio at >The Setai, and you too, could rocket to super rock stardom just like Mark Wahlburg (as Chris “Izzy” Cole) did with the heavy metal rock group, Steel Dragon, in the 2001 flick, Rock Star.

The slick 2,500 square foot, two-floor penthouse recording studio is the brainchild of sexy muscled, tattooed and pierced rocker Lenny Kravitz and his Kravitz Design studio. The decor fits in with The Setai’s soothing Asian look (a far cry from college garage band, as well as the latest and greatest music geek gear for both analog and digital recording. And you (provided you got the dough) can have a chance to record here.

Back by popular demand, The Setai is offering American Idol wannabes a chance to clock 12 hours of studio time with reknowned Studio Director, Matt Knobel, with its Rock Star package. Guests are greeted at Miami International Airport with round-trip Range Rover transportation and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. The three-night package includes accommodations in a one-bedroom suite with access to three temperature controlled pools (60˚, 70˚, 80˚), a dedicated beach concierge, and exclusive nightlife in The Courtyard.

So far, no real rockstars have booked the actual package, but our sources tell us that Timbaland, Mary J. Blige, Wyclef Jean, and Chris Cornell have all laid down tracks in The Studio.

The details: The Rock Star package is available for $6,000 plus taxes and is valid until October 31, 2009. Booking is subject to blackout dates and availability.  by globetrotting gourmet – HotelChatter
