After touring the W Hollywood yesterday (sorry, no photos allowed just yet) we learned that the hotel will be using Sanctuary Chargers in-room. Awesome! But wait, what are Sanctuary chargers you ask?
Sanctuary is a product from Bluelounge that enables you to charge all of your gadgets in one box, by offering a multitude of charging cords from cellphones to iPods, iPhones, PDAs and other gadgets that use a USB or mini-USB port to charge up. In fact, The Sanctuary is capable of charging over 1,500 different types of gadgets. Here’s how MacWorld describes using the product:
Using The Sanctuary couldn’t get much simpler: remove the tray, plug in its AC adapter, find the correct cord for your device, thread it through one of the notches, replace the tray, and voilà. A green LED light on the power brick will tell you that your devices are receiving power—if it starts to blink or dim, it’s a sign that you may have too many things connected, and that The Sanctuary has had to reduce its power intake.
This is a HUGE relief to see in hotel rooms as it means you won’t have to bug the front desk and then pray that they have your type of charger and you won’t have to run out to the nearest drugstore or electronics shop to buy a new one.
We’ve already used these excellent chargers at W Boston but you can also find them at W Hoboken and W Washington DC.
And in case you were wondering, the desks at the W Hollywood (which is still on track to open January 28th) will also have 2009’s Must-Have Amenity, Plug Panels. Now, if only we could get free WiFi here too….

The W Hollywood is still on track to open in just a few short weeks and while we have plenty of shots of the hotel’s exterior, we finally got our hands on some renderings for the hotel’s interior, including a guestroom shot.
We’re getting more and more excited for this hotel to open. Los Angeles has been in need of a proper W Hotel–in the middle of the action, not tucked away in Westwood–for a looong time.
Sooo…what do you think? We are happy to see that the guestrooms here have gone the way of W South Beach, which has some of our favorite new hotel rooms on the planet, as opposed to W Boston, which was a disappointment. But of course, we have to reserve our final judgment for when we see the place in person.
Still, we think things are looking very good here.
While the hotel is to open on January 28th, we couldn’t find any rooms available. However, the following weekend of February 5th, room rates were holding steady at $319 for a Fabulous room with a king bed. (Advance purchase required.)
If you’re going to be in the Hollywood area this Thursday, you should know that the W Hollywood is holding its Grand Kick Off event for its 400 new employees. The welcoming celebration will shut down Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Pantages Theater and the House of Blues’ world-famous gospel choir, celebrity impersonators and even some “paparazzi” will give the employees the Hollywood star treatment. That should put them in a good mood to receive guests! Via: Julianna – HotelChatter
What do you think of W Hollywood’s guestrooms? Do they have what it takes or should they just hope for a reality TV show? Let us know in comments below.

Here’s a Thanksgiving conundrum we face every year: after starving ourselves all day, we finally get to chow down on a huge family feast at about 4pm, finish at 7 (or 8 if you help clean up), and then…nothing. What are you to do for the rest of the evening?
Sure, there’s a little apathy-inducing tryptophan coma to overcome, but after all that food, sometimes you just want to get out and move around. Or hang out with some people you’re not related to (or married into). Only there’s nowhere to go and no one to go with—unless you end up calling people you used to hate in high school in the hopes that they too have been dragged home for the holidays.
So you end up stuck watching reruns with your family as everyone starts snoring around the TV. Until now.
Both locations of the Standard Hotel in Los Angeles are offering Thanksgiving activities so you can eat as much as you want and stay out as late as you want. They’ll even cook you dinner if you’ve left plans to the last minute, and both are charging a remarkably reasonable rate for their prix-fixe menus.
At the Standard Downtown LA there will be a rooftop party starting at 9:00pm with Oliver Chico (aka DJ Twist) headlining the musical entertainment. You can catch up with all the other hipsters and loft-dwellers who didn’t make it home for Turkey Day this year thanks to soaring airfares…or family dysfunction. That doesn’t mean you have to miss your turkey dinner, though. You can get a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings and a pumpkin pie dessert for $40 per person before heading to the roof to party. Planning to make an entire evening out of it? Stay over at the hotel with rates starting at $120.
The Standard Hollywood is also getting in on the turkey love with a three-course dinner going for a bargain $25…and they’ll even be serving it out by the pool. How L.A. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard about a similar party taking place here, but you can throw one back in your room later that night. Rates at this location start at $160. Via: EricRosen – HotelChatter

Don’t worry. This is just a construction shot of Drai’s. It’s not the finished product.
As we eagerly await the opening of The W Hollywood on December 3, we’ve got word that construction on the hotel’s nightclub, Drai’s Hollywood–a spin-off of the legendary Las Vegas club–has begun. The club’s construction firm, R.D. Olson sent us this press release with some detes:
Drai’s Hollywood will include an intimate 2,331-square-foot VIP lounge on ground level with a private VIP entrance separate from the hotel’s public lobby entry; a 21,552-square-foot penthouse glassed-in bar on the 11th floor with a 1,000-square-foot open air balcony; and an adjacent 2,131-square-foot rooftop pool deck and bar. The total capacity of Drai’s Hollywood will be 792 occupants.
And perhaps to avoid the noise problem that has plagued the W Scottsdale, the 11th floor bar will be atop an “unusual insulated adjustable concrete slab.” Still, we’d be wary if we were one of the residents who live on the floor below.Interested in some nightclub construction shots? R.D Olson has set up a webcam of Drai’s construction. In the meantime, you can also become Drais friend on Facebook. But that doesn’t mean you’ll get VIP treatment when it opens. by juliana – HotelChatter

Newlyweds and “Kendra” stars, Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett, were spotted Sunday catching a departing flight out of LAX bound for their swanky St. Lucia honeymoon. The 24-year-old Playboy Playmate and 26-year-old NFL player were married on Saturday at the Playboy mansion in Los Angeles thanks to Kendra’s ex, Hugh Hefner. One of the bridesmaids, Kendra’s former “Girls Next Door” co-star, Holly Madison, dished for People:
She looked like a princess. It was a beautiful setting for a wedding. [Kendra and Hank are] definitely ready for their honeymoon now. They need a vacation.
In the airport, Kendra was wearing a t-shirt proclaiming her status as a “High Maintenance Bride,” which may have just been an attempt to take attention away from her growing baby bump and redirect it towards her more famous assets. Kendra and Hank’s bundle of joy is due on Christmas Day and, yes, her ex will also be the godfather. by cmb – Jaunted

Alright, if you’re not down with booze sno-cones with the hipster crowd at the Ace Palm Springs ’cause a swanky LA rooftop is more your speed, we’ve got happy news for you: this Saturday and Sunday mark the beginnings of the Standard LA’s monthly rooftop parties, Honey on the Rooftop and Compression.
Every third Saturday this summer, The Honey Collective, a Los Angeles-based all-female DJ and Production team, provides the soundtrack to a rooftop soiree dubbed “Honey on the Rooftop” from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The first of the summer is going down tomorrow — and if you can’t read a calendar, June 6th, June 27th, July 18th, August 8th, August 29th and September 19th are your other chances to catch this party.
If Sunday drinking sessions are more your jam, this Sunday kicks off Compression — which is a rooftop pool party that is apparently so awesome that it can only happen once a month. On the 3rd Sunday of each month this summer (not every three weeks), you can get down to a “worldly blend of Techno, including Tech-House and Minimal” (er, we’re sure someone knows what that means) and guest DJ’s in addition to residents. This Sunday, you’ve got Ivan Smagghe, Amber Reyngoudt and Compression Resident DJ’s Robtronik, Matt Xavier, and Andre Ezer. This is also running 1:00 to 8:00.
And, yes: you have to be 21+ to get in. Sorry, kiddos. by Jenna – HotelChatter
