Aspen’s Sky Hotel Dishes Out Deals For Snowbird Facebook Fans

May 29, 2009

The words “Aspen” and “affordable” typically don’t have any business sharing the same sentence, but Kimpton’s Sky Hotel is doing its part to make this swank resort town slightly more affordable for its Facebook fans with last-minute hotel deals.

Dubbed “the sexiest ski lodge in North America” by Playboy magazine, this chic Kimpton property has racked up nearly 200 “friends” within days of its initial Facebook post. Although tech-savvy staffers are still in the beginning stages of getting their fan page off the ground, rumor has it there will be frequent deals to be had for those who sign on as a friend or fan.

Stay tuned when ski season rolls around (November 26th is the official opening date for the mountain) – spoiled Aspenites will be able to stay in the snow loop with real-time Facebook posts regarding snowfall amounts.

With all the money you save, maybe you can snag a pair of Muk Luks or a few pricey signature cocktails at the hotel’s hip 39 Degrees lounge. by globetrotting gourmet – HotelChatter

Rooms start at $249; extra credit for being Fido-friendly.

The Mardan Palace Luxury Surpasses Larger Than Life Status

The gondola ride across the blue water pool takes 30 minutes.

The Mardan Palace in Antalya, Turkey is luxury beyond all meaning. With 11 Italian restaurants, a 2,400 fish aquarium (yes you can swim with the fish), and 560 remarkable rooms, most places on the planet fail to compare to its aura.

The opening of the Mardan Palace brought a flock of “who’s who” including Richard Gere, Mariah Carey, Sharon Stone, and (OF COURSE) Paris Hilton.

Russian billionaire Telman Ismailov has spent over $1 billion on the project and for only $18,300 a night you can enjoy the 9,000 tonnes of white sand imported from Egypt, the 500,000 crystals and 23,000 square meters of Italian marble. Via: HotHotelReviews

Jeremy Shockey Gets Knocked Out by Rehab at the Hard Rock

May 27, 2009

Rehab at the Hard Rock, the hotel’s seasonal Sunday pool party, has a tongue-in-cheek name but the truth is, many folks partying here might actually be in need of the real rehab.

New Orleans Saints football star Jeremy Shockey collapsed at the pool yesterday, due to “dehydration.” He was taken out of the area on a stretcher and then to the hospital. His reps say he will be “fine.” Even more embarrassing than a big man falling down in public, the entire thing was caught on tape. Hit up TMZ for all the photos and video. And you’ll notice that not even Jeremy Shockey going down can stop the party from partying on.

Meanwhile, over at Encore an audience member at Whoopi Goldberg’s show inside the Danny Gans Theater collapsed due to a seizure, forcing Whoopi to shut the show down early so the man could be properly assisted. What happens in Vegas during a holiday weekend, might be too much for some to take. Via: juliana – VegasChatter

Kick Off The Unofficial Start of Summer at These Memorial Day Parties

May 22, 2009

[Pool at Rio Hotel Casino – Las Vegas]

Memorial Day Weekend is a popular weekend in Vegas – but then nearly every weekend equates to a quarter-million-plus tourists swarming the landscape and myriad reasons to party at the city’s various nightspots. We scoured the calendars for the next three days, though, and came up with a few especially eye-catching ways to celebrate summer’s official kickoff in Vegas:

VooDoo Lounge atop the Rio will be the site of the next Girls Gone Wild “hottest girl search” tonight. Guys, yer welcome. Ladies, you can’t say we didn’t warn you – and if wonton exhibitionism isn’t your thing, you might want to go easy on the poolside mojitos for the rest of the day. The debauchery begins at 10 p.m. and goes until midnight.

Krave inside the Mirace Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood is throwing a Gold-themed party featuring DJ Morningstar, complete with golden dancers and a “crack the golden vault and win huge prizes” event. Krave is billed as Las Vegas’ only gay club on the Strip, so those dancers will not only be golden-hued, but also buff, male and of the go-go variety…perfect embodiments of the boys of summer, if you ask us. Go time is 10 p.m. Text 313131 for more info.

The Palms is hosting a Love Festival featuring top DJs all day Sunday. Beginning at 10 a.m. at the Palms Pool & Bungalows: Mark Farina, Steve Aoki, Swedish Egil, Danny Love, Jordan Stevens and Keith Evans. At 9 p.m., it’s Mark Lewis, Serge Devant and Carl Cox, while spinning sets inside Rain will be Paul van Dyk, Robbie Rivera, DJ Reza, and Scotty Boy. Tickets range from $25 to $255. The Bellini Bar @ Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc, Antibes, France

May 19, 2009

Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc, Antibes, France

Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc, Antibes, France

The people: The wealthiest and most beautiful monsieurs and mademoiselles in all the land

Sex appeal: If there’s one place in the world where you’re likely to spot a tipsy Sienna Miller thumb-wrestling with Bono, or a sparkling Paris Hilton and a sweaty Brandon Davis in party mode (okay, we realize that’s always the case), it’s at this glitzy sanctum for the megarich. By day, the bar is a luxurious lounge overlooking the Mediterranean, where you can nosh on spiced nuts while scanning the horizon for Stavros Niarchos’s yacht. At night, especially around May, when the Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix draw an international crowd, Bellini becomes the hottest spot in the south of France, if not the world. “Normally, we close at 2 am,” says head bartender Christopher Lencioni. “But when all the movie stars are here, there are no rules and we’re absolutely packed until 6 am.” Not that the party ends there, as a Russian millionaire is always on hand to open up his or her $3,500-dollar-a-night hotel villa.

Pickup line: “Mind if I talk to you for a moment? I’m hiding from Harvey Weinstein.”

The Most Expensive Luxury Holiday Experiences In The World

May 17, 2009
Burj Al Arab - 7 Star Luxury - Dubai

Burj Al Arab - 7 Star Luxury - Dubai

Downing 27,321’s in the Sky View Bar at the Burj Al Arab

A luxury break can’t get any more luxury than a stay in the world’s only seven star hotel, and with rooms starting at £550 per night, you need to do something spectacular to set yourself apart from the millionaires and celebrities that are often seen frequenting this lavish hotel. The solution is a visit to the Sky View Bar which not only offers panoramic views across the whole of Dubai, but also the most expensive cocktail in the world. The 27,321 is named after its price in the local currency but were the cocktail in England then it would have to change its name to the less salubrious £5,029.00.

Chartering a Private Yacht around the Maldives

The Annaliesse and her sister ship, the Alysia, are the most expensive chartered yachts in the world, and for a mere £85,000 per day, you and up to 36 guests can cruise around the Maldives in some serious style. The Annaliesse comes complete with 34 crew members eager to attend your every whim, and a range of on-board pamper facilities including a marble-faced Roman bath, sauna, steam-room, Jacuzzi, on-board beauty salon, therapy beds and even a massage centre. But even the most pampered princess can get bored from being polished and preened all the time, and if you find yourself needing to take a break from luxury, you can always escape to the yacht’s onboard cinema and library.

Travelling on the World’s Most Expensive Plane Ticket

Your luxury holiday begins the moment that you board the plane, so you probably want your outward journey to be as memorable as your luxury break. The world’s most expensive plane ticket was a $100,000 ticket sold via eBay in 2007 to an Australian man, and his date, for a journey on Singapore Airline’s inaugural flight using the jumbo A380 Airbus. But there’s nothing like a bit of healthy competition in the travel industry and with Boeing having scheduled the first flight on its 787-Dreamliner for July 1st, you may be able to get your hands on a pricier ticket. Best start watching eBay now!

Eating the Most Expensive Meal in the World

The most expensive meal in the world was sold at the Dome Restaurant, Bangkok in 2007. The guest-list was a mere 15 people largely made up of American and Asian gaming and media moguls, and the price of the meal was a gut-busting $300,000. This involved six separate chefs being flown in from separate corners of the world and whilst the eight course meal has now been and gone, you can still enjoy a slightly cheaper meal whilst on your luxury holiday in the hotel’s outdoor restaurant, Sirocco. The restaurant also boasts the accolade of the highest seafood restaurant in the world.

A Holiday in the Rani Resort, Maldives

The Maldives are a stunning destination for a luxury holiday and Rani is definitely one of the most luxurious and most expensive resorts in the world. A night here will set you back around £7,000 but you do get your money’s worth. The four-figured amount gives you several hours use of the resort’s main yacht and unlimited food and drink in the restaurant, as well as spa treatments. However, if you can’t quite justify spending that kind of money on a day’s worth of pampering, then not to worry as the Maldives has plenty of other lavish resorts and boutique hotels that are worth exploring.
