Work Has Begun on The Encore Beach Club

November 21, 2009

Ok, so there’s this big thing opening soon in Vegas that rhymes with DittyDenter but if you’re Steve Wynnwhat are you really focusing on these days? Tearing down the front of your less-than-a-year-old hotel, Encore, and building an $80 million beach club.

The Encore Beach Club is set to open this summer and VegasCabbie snapped a pic of the construction that’s currently going on from the outside. Meanwhile, Two Way Hard Three has a pic of the inside. The tentative name of the club will be the Switch Beach Club because of its proximity to the Switch restaurant. But since Switch is a name that alludes to the culinary dinner theater that happens inside the restaurant, we don’t think that name will stick.

It’s also hard for us to even think about summer with the holidays on the horizon but if Wynn is building it, then we will come. If we don’t, there’s always CityCenter. (Burn.)  Via:  Julianna – VegasChatter

Cool Hotels for Bar Hopping

October 29, 2009

I don’t know about you, but I love going to hotel bars!  They are upscale, classy, and in this case….trendy. Today, there are many Hip Hotels that are stepping up their game when it comes to cool bars. Jet Setters who love traveling around the world make it a point to book hotels that have a trendy little bar scene within the hotel….it’s a requirement.  It’s about the Travel, and of course the Party!

Here are some cool hotel companies that have stepped up, and continue to re-create the hotel bar trend. And being a true Jet Setter, this is a must for hotel bar hopping!

Desire Hotels – This boutique hotel company is headquartered in Miami. They have 10 properties around the country. Known for top-notch terrace lounges, restaurants, and rooftop bars.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants – Always a F&B innovator, the San Francisco-based Kimpton operates more than 50 restaurants, and nearly 50 hotels in North America. Check out their newest venture; NIOS. An American restaurant and wine bar located right across from the Muse New York in the Big Apple.

NYLO Hotels – Not as big as the other hotel companies, NYLO owns three properties. NYLO recently opened the NYLO Dallas/Las Colinas that offers a sleek Texan vibe (whatever that means). You know the deal, don’t mess with Texas!

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide – One of my favorite and newest brands that fill up the 966 hotel portfolio is the Aloft Hotels. Each property features the w xyz bar, where signature cocktails, house-made infused spirits and evening events make the bar a hot spot. Happy Hour…..foget about it!  Aloft Hotels is definitley on my top list for cool hotels with the trendiest bar scene.

Wyndham Worldwide – This massive hotel company offers 7,024 hotels and 11 hotel brands around the world! I’m like DAMN……there is no excuse to not hotel bar hop with them right! I would be done after my third location =).

So next time you are looking to plan a global bar hopping trip, look to these cool hotels. Happy Hotel Bar Hopping =)

Get Your Tickets To The Playboy Mansion’s Halloween Party Now

October 7, 2009
Where: Los Angeles, CA, United States

Did you watch “The Girls Next Door” religiously back when Holly, Kendra and Bridget were running the Playboy Mansion? Are you in need of Halloween plans in the Los Angeles area? Look no further then the notorious Playboy Halloween Party, for which tickets have just gone on sale, costing about $1,000 each. You’ll be rolling up to party at the mansion of course, but no sleeping over; they’ve set up packages at the Hollywood Roosevelt for that, which is just as full of collagen and nudity anyways.

The official name of the party is the “Kandy Halloween Party at The Playboy Mansion,” since not only will the place be packed with dudes who shelled out the $1,000-$2,000 just for entrance, but also with Kandy models, Playboy bunnies, and “over 1,000 of the sexiest girls in the world.” That’s like paying $1-$2 each, just to be in their presence.

What costs $10,000, after the jump.

For some reason, we always thought that Playboy parties were mainly private affairs, with Hugh celebrating amongst his closest several thousand friends, but nope—any old schmuck with a large bank account can get in. Oh, and any old schmuck can do even better if he’s willing to part with $10,000 to have a table or cabana that evening. It will entitle the buyer to “free flowing bottle service, dedicated Kabana Girl, 2 bottles of Cristal, seating for 8-10, VIP Check-in, security and special Kandy surprises!”

So far, the only celebs we know who will be there are Flo Rida, who is performing, and good old Hugh Hefner, whose girls do the performing for him. They also promise robotic monsters, professional scare actors, expert set designers and lavish haunted décor, so long as you promise to get in the spirit of Halloween. Costumes are mandatory, and there’ll be no throwing on a Scream mask at the last minute; you’ve got to go whole-hog with your getup or face the wrath of the bunnies.

To book your tickets, head to their website at KandyHalloween.com, and enter VIP invitation code “TP3333,” which we hope gives you some fun benefits or something.  by JetSetCD – Jaunted

The Viceroy Snowmass Will Open in November at $150 a Night (With 50% Off Additional Nights)

October 3, 2009

Where: 130 Wood Road [map], Snowmass, CO, United States, 81615

While the spoiled ski bunnies will have to wait another year for the Montage Deer Valley to open, in the meantime, they can have their personal assistants switch their itineraries to The Viceroy Snowmass in Colorado which still expects to open on November 25.

Also still in effect through December 23rd, is a special deal that gets guests who book one night there, any additional nights at 50 percent off. But wait, it gets even better still.

The opening rate on November 25 is only $150 a night for a studio residence with mountain views which includes a king-size bed, fireplace, a small kitchen, 42-inch flat screens and WiFi. The room sizes start at 375-square-feet which is a little on the small side for a “studio” room category but hey, the price is right. Just don’t expect any fresh powder at your feet.

On site, the hotel offers a ski concierge who can get your lift tickets and store your equipment. There’s also ski-in, ski-out access, a signature restaurant and lobby bar, a heated outdoor pool with cabanas and hot tubs and even a Kelly Wearstler-designed pool cafe. (Designer Jean-Michel Gathy did the rest of the hotel’s interiors.) And your four-legged friends can shack up with you as well, for $100 per stay.

If we didn’t already have plans for Thanksgiving (on Nov. 26), we’d make a point of being here.  by juliana – HotelChatter

Paris Hilton apparently has a sunglass line and she will be debuting it this Friday at The Hard Rock from 8pm to 10pm at the pool. The shindig is officially called, “Paris Hilton Fashion Show and VIP Cocktail.” Sorry but not even “VIP Cocktails” (whatever that is) could get us to party with Paris. But we are whores for free shades. Early birds will get Paris Hilton sunglasses for free.  by juliana – VegasChatter

Thanks to Facebook, We Get a Sneak Peek at the W Barcelona

September 25, 2009

There are still six days to go till it opens, but the folk at W Barcelona have stuck up some sneak peek photos on their Facebook page. The teases!

Up top is the the sundeck at the Altitude Terrace. Then there’s the WET Deck (loving the water all over the place)

The gym – yep, we’d work out here.

And a corner suite. No complaints there, either.

We’re not so keen on the corridors, which look a little institutional:

But if you’re only disliking the corridors, you’re going pretty good. You know how we were saying yesterday that the prices (EUR280/$414/£255) were pretty hefty? Well we still think they are. But we’re coming round to them. A little bit.  by juliab – HotelChatter

Hide Away from the Pool Party Scene in a Cabana

September 23, 2009

Cabanas at the Hard Rock (taken on a Tuesday morning.)

It’s no secret that Las Vegas pools are great for sunbathing, people-watching and (naturally) getting drunk in a chaise lounge. The downside: the places can be dirty madhouses, especially when the pool party scene is in full effect.

But that’s precisely what makes pool cabanas such a sensible choice. Though the pool party scene is winding down, these canvas “rooms” are still the ultimate choice for relaxing poolside. Besides, you didn’t escape the cold weather

For no more than a total of $400 a day (or no more than $200 for a half-day), you and your posse can luxuriate in the privacy of your own little fiefdom. Depending on how many people you’ve got, the cabana likely won’t cost more than $45 or $60 per person.

Most cabanas include a flat-screen television, house telephone, safe, a refrigerator stocked with non-alcoholic drinks and seating for six. On weekends, many also include complimentary snacks, such as fresh fruit or chips.

During a recent visit, we camped out with five friends in a cabana at the brand-new Garden of the Gods pool oasis at Caesars Palace. Over the course of the afternoon, we used the canvas hut to sleep, sunbathe, eat lunch and watch college football.

The cost: Roughly $50 per person.

Other Strip cabanas worth exploring are those on the pool deck at the Palazzo, the ones surrounding the dumbbell-shaped pool at Wynn, and the new swanky offerings at Tao Beach in the Venetian.

In Summerlin, the cabanas at Red Rock Casino Resort also are worth a try, especially if you like a more quiet an intimate pool experience overall.

Wherever you reserve your cabana, keep in mind the following pointers:

· Most cabanas do not include a restocking fee to restock the fridge after you leave. This is usually about $25.
· Gratuities for servers are included with cabana service, but tips for the cabana host are not (and are usually expected).
· The safe is there for a reason—use it or your buzz will be killed by theft.  by Whalehead – VegasChatter

Hurry! Jet Set to Zrce Beach, Croatia

August 25, 2009

Recently, a good friend of mine – a cool cat from a small town in Bosnia set out on a weekend journey to Zrce Beach in Croatia.  Just think of this place as the “Ibiza” of Croatia!  He said that his life will never be the same =)  With top International DJ’s like Tiesto performing on a regular basis during the summer, it’s no reason why this is one of the hottest spots for the European Jet Set!  Summer is almost coming to an end, but there is still time to check it out. Here is a brief scoop on what you are missing!

Check out this video!

Novalja on the island of Pag is a popular summer resort which hosts probably the only beach in Croatia with Ibiza sense.
Zrce can be reached form Novalja by car or you can take a small shuttle bus operating during the summer.

Zrce is a long, stretched, white pebbled beach with crystal clear sea. The beach has numerous facilities and three popular open-air clubs offering entertainment until wee-wee hours. Aquarius and Papaya are outfits from Zagreb’s popular clubs, and there is also beach-bar Kalypso.

Aquarius is superbly equipped, it has places to eat, drink and dance, aerobics, homemade ice cream and also a fun pool! Often there are theme parties, bubble parties, live concerts, resident and international DJ’s playing hippiest house music.

Papaya is arranged in exotic style and it offers bar, restaurant, VIP area, pool, water slide, jacuzzi, after beach parties, cocktail parties, foam parties and dancing all night. Varied music styles are played by resident and international DJ’s.

Kalypso is a beach sport bar offering sand volley, darts, badminton, then cocktails, Internet access, fast food, but also all kinds of other fun events including Miss and Mister competition and of course good music until morning.
